Bogenhofen: Just Some Things

Spring has lulled me into a quiet routine—the kind that comes before a big event. The kind that comes when you know you have to "lay low" or you'll go crazy. That's how I feel with anticipation of my parents' arrival and the soon-to-follow trip to Greece. If I don't live quietly and try to enjoy the little things in life now, I won't be able to wait for the bigger things. The logic makes sense in my brain even if I can't express it here. I have recently read Anne of Green Gables and have been watching the show with my friend, and currently, I'm just trying to live an Anne of Green Gables type of existence. I think often of two specific quotes from the book, "Looking forward to things is half the pleasure of them," and, "I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly like pearls ...
