Traunkirchen: Jugend Wochenende

We went to the mountains with our youth group over the weekend. Our leaders had rented a cabin/bnb there with a beautiful view of the lake and the Alps. Unfortunately, I was really sick while we were there, which made me pretty low energy; but it was still very fun and I enjoyed the fellowship.

I don't know if you've ever heard of the term "dad lore" but it's the idea that as we're growing up, our dads are always dropping more crazy stories about the things they did in "the old days". I've taken that idea very seriously and made "mom/auntie lore" much of my mentality as I travel. Something goes wrong? Well, that's just part of the mom lore. My kids will think it's a fun story. Scared to try something new? But what about the auntie lore??? My nieces and nephews will think I'm so cool.

So, I did a cold plunge. I'm sure it was really good for my immune system because contrary to what my old roommate believes, the cold is not the main factor contributing to all sickness and disease. But it still took me a long time to build up the courage.

I also made friends with some sheep, and a salamander, and played a really intense game of mafia with my friends in which I became the main target of everyone's vote simply because I had voiced my opinion (which I was right by the way).

I also built a bonfire for everyone on Saturday night and we closed the Sabbath by teaching the Germans and Austrians how to make s'mores. I guess they don't have roasting sticks in Austria because they gave us these tiny wooden Sishkebab skewers and we almost burnt our fingers off trying to use them. They also didn't have graham crackers. :( All the Germans and Austrians complained that the s'mores were way too sweet and gawked when I put a whole square of chocolate on mine, but I didn't even care. I'm tired of eating bread with butter every day and I'm just thankful my tastebuds can handle more flavor than the equivalent of unseasoned rice. (No hate.)

I was really cold, but at least the view was good.

Hopped a fence to pet these guys, not even ashamed.

Literally so cute. 😭

My little buddy.

I have no context for this photo.
